My name is Cristian Saez, and I hold a Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics from Penn State University. After years of research, I am now transitioning to a new chapter in my career by pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science at the Universidad de Chile. I am currently in the final stages of my Master's project, titled "Polygonal Surface Mesh Simplification Algorithm" (thesis proposal), under the supervision of Nancy Hitschfeld. This project involves developing a C++-based algorithm using CGAL to simplify triangular meshes into general polygonal meshes. My professional interests span software development, data science, and computational modeling, with a focus on innovative algorithms and data-driven solutions. In addition to my technical expertise, I have a strong background in astronomy, having conducted research on quasar winds, galactic evolution in protoclusters, and dark matter halo studies. My work has been cited over 1000 times, with an h-index of 20. I also have extensive experience in teaching and collaborating on interdisciplinary projects. |
